5 Inspirational Women Who Are Changing The World

By Nitika on March 5, 2022

From glamorous movies to impactful activism, women are making a mark in every sphere of life. While there are countless women that have defined the path, we are pleased to mention a few that have transcended boundaries despite adversities.

Falguni Nayar

Do you remember buying skincare and makeup online before Nyyka? It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Falguni Nayar’s company Nykaa revolutionized beauty retail in India. All our lives we’re told to hurry up and quickly build a successful career, as if there is an expiration date. Falguni is a brilliant example that all great professional achievements don’t have to happen in your 20s! After spending nearly two decades as an investment banker, Nayar launched Nykaa, making her India’s biggest self-made female billionaire.

Naomi Osaka

Japanese tennis player, Naomi Osaka is the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in singles. While her countless sport accolades are remarkable, Osaka made a radical point by skipping press at the French Open for the sake of her mental health. Top athletes showcase unparalleled physical strength and endurance but that doesn’t make them immune to mental struggles. Despite being criticized and fined by the Grand Slam head, Osaka stood her ground and prioritized her mental health.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a step back from a job or a relationship that’s adversely impacting your mental health. Even if it means ruffling a few feathers.

Geena Davis

From modeling to academy award winning movies, Geena Davis has shown incredible powerness in the entertainment world. But did you know she also competed to become a part of the US Olympic archery team? The most impressive fact is that Davis wasn’t an athlete growing up and took up the sport just two years prior to tryouts. Just like any other industry, Hollywood is laced with sexism and gender inequality. Davis has also done amazing work fighting gender bias on- and off- screen in Hollywood.

Mithali Raj

Cricket has long been a male-dominated sport, but players like Mithali Raj are making their mark. From Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup to international matches, Raj has proved that cricket is no longer a boys’ club. Stepping into a male-dominated profession can be hard, especially when in an unconventional industry. But it’s 2022, and women can truly have it all!

Disha Ravi

Our planet is rapidly moving to a point of no return in terms of climate change. While political leaders and large corporations have failed to implement necessary policies, Gen Z activists are rising up to the occasion. Disha Ravi is a young 22-year old activist fighting for environmental conservation. Her efforts are a wonderful reminder that there is hope for the future.
